Report: Tottenham offer new contracts to two rising academy starlets

The recently released Premier League official retained list names Maurizio Pochettino, Jonathan De Bie, and Elliot Thorpe as having new contract offers on the table from Spurs.

The Evening Standard confirmed a few days ago that Pochettino, the former Spurs boss’ son, had been offered a new deal to stay on with the Lilywhites.

The 19-year-old joined the club’s academy in the summer of 2017 when his father was still in charge at Spurs, and he has since established himself as a regular in the club’s Under-23 set up.

It has now been confirmed that not only had Pochettino been offered a new deal, but his fellow academy men De Bie and Thrope too.

There is no information as of yet regarding whether the trio, who will be out of contract at the end of the month, will sign their respective new deals.

De Bie has made eight appearances for the Under-21s this season (transfermarkt.com) but reports back in April claimed that the young goalkeeper could be on his way out of Spurs (Het Nieuwsblad).

Thrope, a Wales Under-19 international, has been promoted from the Under-18s to the more senior of the age-group sides, according to Football Insider.

Perhaps Jose wants to take a closer look at the trio, which he will in pre-season if they do sign an extension. This summer will be a big one for many of Tottenham’s young players who are on loan, with Jose and his coaching staff set to work with many of them for the first time.
