Report: Tottenham offer Pochettino new contract at the club

Tottenham have offered Maurizio Pochettino a new contract at the club with his current deal set to expire at the end of the month, according to the Evening Standard.

The 19-year-old, who was born in Spain joined the club’s academy in 2017 during his father’s spell as manager.

However, with his contract set to expire on June 30, Spurs have reportedly offered to extend his stay in N17.

Mauricio Pochettino was sacked by the club in November 2019 but Pochettino Jnr could be set to stay with the Lilywhites for an extended period, depending on his final decision regarding the new contract offer.

The 19-year-old used to play for Southampton academy, another of his father’s old clubs, but made the switch to Spurs in 2017. However, he is yet to make a senior appearance for Tottenham (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

It is hard to say whether this is would be a good move for the youngster as it doesn’t seem as if he is close to making his mark on the first-team yet. However, if he does choose to stay, it would be good to see a Pochettino shirt in the first team.
