Tottenham have offered a scholarship contract to 15-year-old defender Archie Chaplin, according to Football Insider.

The young centre-back has been making his mark in Tottenham’s youth set-up and is already playing at a considerable level above his age group.

As per Football Insider, Chaplin is now set to be rewarded for his performances with a scholarship deal, which would see him enter the club’s academy next season.

The report adds the club is working quickly to secure the centre-back to the deal, due to his ‘immense promise’ shown so far, and are hoping to fend off potential interest from other sides looking to sign British prodigies.

Chaplin made his full debut for Spurs U18s in the 3-2 win over Reading last month and has since gone on to play two more 90-minute games against West Ham and West Brom in the U18 Premier League.

Chaplin appears to be making his mark in the club’s youth set-up, in matches that are way above his age group too. It is good that Spurs are recognising his potential and are looking to tie him down ahead of the club’s academy intake, to avoid him getting poached by other clubs.
