Report: Tottenham ‘on the trail’ of player who is distracted by contract situation

According to Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur continue to be on the trail of Franck Kessie, with a January exit now looking a real possibility for the midfielder.

Spurs missed out on Kessie during the summer transfer window but the midfielder is now into the final twelve months of his contract at the San Siro.

Over the last few weeks, there have been a number of updates in the Italian press regarding Kessie’s contract situation, with many outlets suggesting that there is still a major difference between the Ivorian’s demands and what Milan are willing to offer.

Gazzetta dello Sport revealed this week that Kessie has rejected an offer worth £110,000-a-week from Milan, with the report claiming that the gap between the parties is now “unbridgeable”.

Corriere have now claimed that Kessie’s contract situation is now weighing on the midfielder’s head and is affecting his performances.

It is asserted that there is a difference of €3m (£2.5m) between what the 24-year-old’s agent is demanding and what the Rossoneri are willing to offer.

It is suggested that Spurs, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are ‘on the trail’ of Kessie ahead of the January transfer window.

Hopefully, the groundwork that Paratici did on the Kessie deal during the summer would put us ahead of the competition for the midfielder’s signature. However, if we find ourselves a long way off Champions League qualification in January, I doubt Kessie would want to join Spurs.
