Report: Tottenham one of four clubs to have contacted 64-year-old manager

According to a report in Il Messaggero (13/02/23 as relayed by LazioNews24 and SportWitness), it is not just Tottenham who have shown an interest in Maurizio Sarri but also three other clubs, including London rivals, West Ham United.

Conte’s future at Tottenham looks far from certain at the moment with the Italian’s current contract running out at the end of the season.

Gianluca Di Marzio told on Sky Sport Italia (13/02/23 as relayed by Tutto Juve) just a couple of days ago that the expectation is for the Spurs head coach to walk away at the end of this season.

CalcioMercatoWeb claimed last Saturday that Tottenham have identified Sarri as the man to take over from Conte if the 53-year-old departs.

Tottenham’s interest in the former Chelsea boss has now also been backed by Il Messaggero, who state that despite being contracted to the Lazio until 2025, the Italian’s future at the Stadio Olimpico remains up in the air.

This is because Sarri is said to be unhappy with the club’s hierarchy and has been ‘annoyed’ by their request to prioritise Champions League qualification over the Coppa Italia.

However, it is explained that it is not just Spurs who have contacted the 64-year-old, with West Ham, Everton and AC Milan also said to have reached out to his camp.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Conte does leave Tottenham in the summer, I think the next appointment will likely be dictated by whether Fabio Paratici is still at the club.

Should Spurs’ managing director of football’s ban not be overturned, I have no doubt that Levy will turn towards Pochettino.
