Report: Tottenham one of four PL clubs interested in 25-year-old Dutch attacker

The Daily Mail have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of four Premier League clubs who are eyeing a move for Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma.

Danjuma has come on leaps and bounds since making his switch to Villarreal 18 months ago, with the forward ending last season with 16 strikes to his name and having found the back of the net on six occasions across all competitions so far in 2022-23 (Transfermarkt).

90 min reported during last summer’s transfer window that the 25-year-old was on Tottenham’s wishlist and the North London club’s interest in the forward was also backed up by journalist Dean Jones at the time (GiveMeSport).

Danjuma ended up staying at Villarreal in the summer but The Daily Mail have now claimed that the striker will be allowed to leave on loan this month after having fallen out with many of his teammates.

The report asserts that Tottenham face competition from Aston Villa and Everton for the Dutchman while Bournemouth have now expressed interest in re-signing the Villarreal star, who was at the Vitality Stadium from 2019 to 2021.

The Mail state that the Cherries are keen on adding reinforcements to help their bid to stay in the Premier League, with Gary O’Neil’s men said to have identified Danjuma as a player who could help them do so.

I doubt whether Tottenham still hold an interest in Danjuma as the Dutchman is clearly best suited to playing as a number nine, which is not the position that Spurs are looking to reinforce this month. Conte would likely prefer a winger of the profile of Leandro Trossard or Marcus Edwards.
