Report: Tottenham open talks with club over Ndombele – ‘A deal is progressing’

Sky Sports have revealed that Napoli have now opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a potential deal for Tanguy Ndombele.

Foot Mercato reported on Thursday that Ndombele is of interest to several clubs across Europe, with Marseille, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Everton, Galatasaray and AC Milan said to have their eyes on the midfielder.

However, the report claimed that Napoli and Villarreal were the two clubs who were leading the race to sign the Frenchman.

The print edition of Corriere dello Sport (11/08/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) also confirmed Napoli’s interest in Ndombele. The report suggested that the 25-year-old was keen to leave Spurs on a permanent basis and was even prepared to take a salary cut in order to do so.

Sky Sports have now claimed that the Serie A club have opened talks with the North London club over a deal for the former Lyon man.

While the report does not mention if Luciano Spalletti’s side want to sign Ndombele on loan or permanently, the deal is said to be ‘progressing’.

Spurs Web Opinion

After weeks of frustration, it looks like Tottenham are finally having to start to have some success in their efforts to move players on. Let’s hope the two clubs are able to hammer out a deal over the coming days. If it does go through, it is highly likely to be a loan, with Spurs covering a significant portion of the Frenchman’s wages.
