Report: Tottenham open talks with English club for player loan next season

Tottenham have reportedly opened talks with a Championship club over a potential loan move for Kion Etete next season, according to Football Insider.

Etete has made great strides away from Spurs this term in a campaign halved by loans at Northampton and Cheltenham in League Two and League One respectively.

And Tottenham are allegedly planning the 20-year-old’s next move which would see him make a third consecutive step up the divisions in England.

Football Insider claims Spurs have held preliminary talks with an unnamed club in the Championship to secure another loan move for Etete ahead of the new campaign.

The club is said to be pleased with the young striker’s progress throughout the season and want him to continue his development at a higher level of football.

Etete joined Tottenham at 16 years of age from Notts County in 2019 but was kept in the club’s academy until the start of this season.

He scored six goals during his first loan spell with Northampton and currently has two with Cheltenham since arriving at the club in the January transfer window (Transfermarkt).

The fact that Tottenham are already planning Etete’s next move this early suggests they could have plans to use him at some point in the near future.

His development has been very good so far as he continues playing in higher divisions, which should put him in a strong position if it comes to breaking into the first-team.
