Report: Tottenham open talks with Serie A club over loan for midfielder

Tottenham have opened talks with Fiorentina over a potential loan move for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, according to the Evening Standard.

Spurs have yet to make a move in the market this month with now under a week to go until the deadline.

Spurs are planning to bolster the midfield options at Antonio Conte’s disposal, with the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Dele Alli and Giovani Lo Celso all reportedly free to depart the club (Sky Sports).

As such, the Evening Standard claims Spurs are in negotiations to sign Fiorentina’s Amrabat on an initial loan until the end of the season.

However, the report explains that any deal with La Viola could be dependent on who of Ndombele, Alli or Lo Celso Spurs can offload within the next week.

Amrabat has made 11 appearances in Serie A this term notching just one start (Transfermarkt), despite featuring regularly for Fiorentina last season.

The 25-year-old is currently on international duty with Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations and is gearing up to face Malawi in the tournament’s round of 16.

This seems like a bit of an odd rumour considering he hasn’t exactly played a huge amount for Fiorentina this season. The next question is whether he can have a solid impact on games, and right now no one can be sure that can be the case.
