Report: Tottenham plan to hold talks with one of the original managerial candidates

Tottenham Hotspur will attempt to holder further talks with Ajax manager Erik ten Hag after suffering a setback in their managerial search, according to The Mirror.

Tottenham ended their interest in Antonio Conte on Friday after the club became concerned about his reluctance to utilise some of the young talent within the ranks (Sky Sports).

The North Londoners are said to have switched their attention back to Ten Hag after it became clear that a deal for Conte could not be agreed from either side.

Ten Hag was one of the original candidates on Tottenham’s shortlist to replace Jose Mourinho identified by Daniel Levy and Steve Hitchen at the start of the hunt for the replacement but signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at the Eredivisie champions until the summer of 2023 (Football.London).

Spurs were reported to have been impressed with Ten Hag following Tottenham’s Champions League semi-final double header in 2019.
