Report: Tottenham player a doubt for Brentford game after World Cup injury

Tottenham Hotspur are set to be without Ben Davies for around four weeks after the defender picked up a stomach injury at the World Cup, according to Football.London.

Davies was forced off during Wales’ final Group B campaign against England after injuring his oblique muscle in the abdominal area during the first half of the match.

The 29-year-old has been a regular fixture in Antonio Conte’s team this season, having started eleven of the sixteen Premier League matches to date (transfermarkt) and now is considered a doubt for Tottenham’s first match back when the top flight resumes at Brentford on Boxing Day.

Davies gets a raw deal from some sections of the Tottenham fanbase, however, the Welshman was an impressive form prior to the World Cup and scored important goals against both Bournemouth and Leeds United to help his side to victory.

It is likely that Clement Lenglet will instead play at left central defender for the match at Brentford, should Davies fail to recover in time.
