Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed that Hugo Lloris could be a Lazio player in a matter of hours, with the goalkeeper now thought to be close to reaching an agreement with the Serie A side.
On Wednesday, we relayed a report from The Evening Standard, which claimed that Spurs are looking for a small fee from Lazio for Lloris while the Italian club were insisting on signing the veteran goalkeeper on a free transfer.

Lloris keen on Lazio move and is close to Spurs exit
However, Gazzetta have now asserted that Lloris is ‘ready to accept’ the number two role at the Stadio Olimpico and ‘likes the idea’ of joining Lazio ‘a lot’.
The report adds that last season’s Serie A runners-up are ‘advancing’ in their efforts to sign the former Tottenham captain a free transfer.
It is alleged that Lloris is expected to sign a two-year contract at the Italian capital and that the deal could be closed ‘in the next few hours’.

It makes no sense for Lloris to turn down the chance to stay at Tottenham as an understudy to Vicario and see out his contract, only to accept being a number two at Lazio. Perhaps, the 36-year-old has been forced to make this decision due to the lack of interest in his services this summer.
