Report: Tottenham player could transfer to Italy after a lack of minutes this season

Giovani Lo Celso could be on his way to Napoli this summer, but the Spurs man is thought to be assessing all his options before deciding which club to join if he is to depart North London.

After spending the last two years away from Tottenham, it seemed Lo Celso would be handed a shot at redemption under Ange Postecoglou this season.

That hasn’t quite been the case, though, with the Argentine struggling for fitness for much of the campaign and not getting the desired minutes on the pitch.

There have been multiple reports linking Lo Celso with a move to a whole host of top European clubs, with a lot of interest coming from Spain.

However, it was suggested recently that Spurs may actually be interested in offering him a new contract, with his current deal set to expire next summer (TuttoMercatoWeb).

Napoli

Is Giovani Lo Celso bound for Napoli?

If the Lilywhites are keen to sell, though, it seems Napoli will be right at the head of the queue. A recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) suggested the Serie A side are hopeful they can secure a cut-price deal for the 28-year-old this summer.

Now, the latest comes from Calcio Napoli, who claim Lo Celso is still keen on joining the Italian side, but he has “certain conditions” when it comes to his future.

It is thought he needs to “clear his head” and decide whether he wants to commit to a new contract with Spurs or move to new pastures abroad. Lo Celso is now “evaluating all possibilities that present themselves to him.”

One of the big factors in the situation is who the next manager will be at Napoli. Reports indicate former Spurs man, Antonio Conte, could be set to take over at Napoli, which “wouldn’t be a point in favour” for Lo Celso’s proposed move, given Conte did not utilise him during his time in North London.

There is a belief that Conte would “prefer to focus on other players,” meaning Lo Celso would need to look elsewhere.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would quite like to see Lo Celso get one more chance to show what he can do this season before we make a call on him. At the moment I am leaning towards selling him, but he definitely does have something to offer if he can get a consistent run together.
