Report: Tottenham player criticised and given 3.5 out of 10 rating this week

Globo Esporte have given Emerson Royal a rating of just 3.5 out of 10 for his performance against Colombia, which is the lowest rating of any player for either side.

Emerson was asked to play as a left-back in Destiny Udogie’s absence against Wolves last week and his display left a lot to be desired, being found wanting for the home side’s late winner.

It appears that the 24-year-old’s struggles have continued in the international scene, with the Spurs man having a day to forget as the Selecao fell to a 2-1 loss to Colombia at the Estadio Metropolitano in Barranquilla on Thursday.

Brazil took the lead through Gabriel Martinelli early in the game but a quickfire brace by Luiz Diaz in the second half saw the home side take all three points.

Emerson Royal had a day to forget for Brazil

Globo Esporte have been quite critical of Emerson’s display, stating that the Tottenham man failed to mark his man effectively.

The outlet states that the right-back struggled to cope with Diaz down Colombia’s left all game and was partly to blame for both of the goals as he failed to stop the cross for the first and didn’t get up for a header for the second.

We desperately need Udogie back fit for the clash against Villa as it was quite painful to watch Emerson as an inverted left-back at the Molineux Stadium.
