Report: Tottenham player has approved loan proposal from La Liga club

Sergio Reguilon has approved a proposal from Sevilla to sign him on loan from Tottenham, according to Estadio Deportivo (22/07/22 via Sport Witness).

The report claims the left-back has green-lit Monchi’s offer of a move back to Spain with the deal likely to be an initial loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

However, it adds that Reguilon will have to wait for a deal to come together, with Sevilla needing the funds from Jules Kounde’s proposed switch to Chelsea before pushing ahead with a move.

Moving to Spurs from Real Madrid after a successful 2019/20 season with Sevilla, Reguilon has struggled for consistency for large parts of his career in North London.

The Spain international had troubles shrugging off injury at the end of last term before losing his place at left wing-back to a resurgent Ryan Sessegnon.

Reguilon’s place at Spurs has since come under threat following the arrival of Ivan Perisic, while he was also left out of Antonio Conte’s plans for the recent pre-season trip to South Korea.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is likely that Conte doesn’t view Reguilon as part of his plans for next season and that will give Spurs something to think about in terms of outgoings this summer.

Sevilla seem pretty keen on re-signing him and he allegedly likes the move back to Spain, so hopefully something can come together that will benefit all parties.
