Report: Tottenham player is now close to sealing a £6m transfer exit

Cameron Carter-Vickers is edging closer to a permanent move north of the border to Scottish giants Celtic, according to SBI Soccer.

The USMNT international, now 24, has impressed in the Scottish top-flight as a regular in the Celtic side close to regaining the title from Rangers.

Carter-Vickers has made just five first-team appearances at Spurs despite making his debut in a 5-0 victory over Gillingham in the League Cup in September 2016.

However, he did actually make an appearance this season in the first leg of the Europa Conference League play-off the first leg away at Pacos de Ferreira (Transfermarkt).

Carter-Vickers has had a number of loan spells at Championship clubs, most of which were quite successful, but neither Pochettino nor his successors felt he could make the step up.

However, the challenge of stepping up to Celtic who are both challenging for a title and playing in the Europa League has been met with a string of excellent performances, even contributing a goal in an old firm derby at Ibrox in early April (Transfermarkt).

SBI Soccer have revealed that a source close to the player has confirmed the deal is at an advanced stage and the asking price sits at £6 million, potentially rising to £10 million with add-ons.

This would be a great deal for all three parties. Carter-Vickers has been stuck in a bit of limbo for the first half of his twenties and if he can find a permanent home in Glasgow where he is a regular starter, that is an excellent place to reignite his career.

For Tottenham, they will receive a decent transfer fee leading into a summer where they need to spend some serious money, so this deal is perfect for the Lilywhites, whilst Celtic will be getting a player that already has a great season with them under his belt.
