Report: Tottenham player is now seen as a ‘less attractive’ target by Serie A club

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, AS Roma are not as keen on signing Eric Dier as they once were, with the Serie A club prioritising moves for other centre-backs over the Tottenham man.

If Dier does not leave in January, he seemingly has to be prepared to warm the bench for the rest of the season, with Ange Postecoglou not showing any faith in the experienced defender.

Roma has been mooted as a possible destination for the 29-year-old in January, with some Italian outlets claiming last month that the Spurs star is Jose Mourinho’s number-one target and that the Portuguese coach has even reached out to the Englishman regarding a switch (TMW).

This was also backed up by AS Roma Live, who stated two weeks ago that the Giallorossi are ready to swoop for Dier as soon as the transfer window reopens.

Dier is not a priority for Jose Mourinho and Roma

However, if Gazzetta’s latest update is to be believed, the Tottenham man is no longer at the top of the Italian club’s wishlist.

The report states that while Roma are keen on signing a centre-back next month, Dier is ‘considered less attractive’ than other names on their list, such as Trevoh Chalobah and Oumar Solet.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Roma or Sporting Lisbon do express a serious interest in Dier next month, the centre-back would likely be very tempted to make the switch since it is now fairly clear that he has no chance of forcing himself into Postecoglou’s plans.
