The latest from Manchester Evening News suggests Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane is now the top summer transfer target for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.
Kane cemented his status as a Tottenham legend recently when he surpassed the more than 50-year-old record held by Jimmy Greaves to become the club’s all-time leading goalscorer (GOAL).
The 29-year-old is enjoying a terrific season on a personal level, with 20 Premier League goals to his name already this term (Transfermarkt) putting him on course for one of his most prolific campaigns to date.
However, the fact that Spurs are going to end the season without a trophy yet again has put Kane’s future in doubt.
The England captain now has just 15 months left on his current contract, and sources suggest he could move to Manchester United if Tottenham fail to finish in the top four this year (The Sun).
Now, sources suggest Manchester United will make Kane their number one priority in the summer, with the Spurs man identified as Erik ten Hag’s “prime striker target.”
It is thought the Dutchman is “intent on signing” Kane as he approaches the last year of his contract.
The report adds that signing Kane will likely prove to be an “onerous task” for any club, due to the fact Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has “repeatedly succeeded in refusing to sell the club’s most coveted players to domestic rivals.”
The increasing speculation linking Kane to United tracks with ten Hag’s own comments at the start of the season where he claimed he would “prefer to sign English players.

I fear it’s becoming more and more likely that Harry Kane will join Manchester United.
If the reports are true and they do want him, they have the money and the pulling power to get the deal done in my opinion, especially if we finish outside the top four.
