Report: Tottenham player makes £4.4m demand to leave the club this year

According to a report from Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu (23/02/23 as relayed by MSN and SportWitness), Lucas Moura has demanded a salary of €5m (£4.4m) per year to sign for Fenerbahce.

Over the last few days, plenty of Turkish outlets have talked up the possibility of Moura joining Fenerbahce.

Sabah reported on Tuesday (21/02/23 via SportWitness) that the Istanbul-based club are looking to snap up the winger ‘immediately’ and asserted that they had offered the Brazilian a three-year contract.

Haber Global also backed up the claim, asserting that Fenerbahce were willing to offer a fee of €2m (£1.7m) to Spurs to release the player before his contract runs out in the summer.

However, Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola said on his YouTube channel on Thursday (as translated by Sport Witness) that he had been informed by Moura’s agent, Junior Pedroso, that there was ‘absolutely nothing’ to the rumour, with no talks being had at the moment between the two clubs.

Nicolo further added that the former Paris Saint-Germain man does not want to move to Turkey in the summer as he is expecting offers from England and Spain.

Journalist Sabuncuoglu has now contradicted that information, stating that the Tottenham man has informed Fenerbahce that he would be willing to sign for them as long as they pay him £4.4m per year.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Moura will be a free agent in the summer, one would have thought that plenty of clubs from England, Spain or Italy would be happy to pay him a salary of over £4m a year.

At 30 years of age, the winger might feel that he can still play for a couple of years at the highest level.
