Report: Tottenham player receives £25,000 fine for on-pitch actions

Sky Sports have revealed that Richarlison has been handed a £25,000 fine along with his one-match ban by the FA after throwing a flare into the Goodison Park crowd back in May.

Richarlison become Tottenham’s fourth signing of the summer after the North London club agreed to pay a fee of £60m including add-ons to Everton for the forward (Guardian).

The 25-year-old’s impressive displays in the final few games of last campaign ensured that the Toffees kept their Premier League status but he was involved in a controversial incident towards the end of the season.

During Everton’s 1-0 win over Chelsea, Richarlison picked up a blue flare that had made its way onto the pitch and threw it into the home crowd.

The forward was under investigation for the incident, and Sky Sports have now revealed that an independent regulatory commission has suspended him for one match and fined him £25,000 following a breach of FA Rule E3.

This means that Spurs’ latest signing will not play any part in the Lilywhites’ first game of the 2022/23 season against Southampton, which means that the forward’s first match for Tottenham could be at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea on August 13.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham would likely have been aware that this would be the outcome of the investigation before they signed Richarlison. One would expect us to see off Southampton at home without much difficulty.

A London derby against Chelsea will not be a bad game for the Brazilian to make his debut as he can become an instant hero among the Spurs faithful by putting the Blues to the sword.
