Report: Tottenham player’s agent dismisses speculation over future as a ‘lie’

Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has revealed that Lucas Moura’s agent, Junior Pedroso, informed him that the speculation linking the winger with a move to Fenerbahce is baseless.

Turkish publication Sabah (via SportWitness) were the first to report on Tuesday that Fenerbahce were working on a deal to sign Moura ‘immediately’ before his contract runs out in the summer.

The report added that Fenerbahce had offered the Brazilian a three-year contract worth around £43,000 a week.

The Turkish club’s interest in Moura was also backed up Haber Global, who claimed on Wednesday that representatives from Fenerbahce will meet with Spurs to discuss a deal for the 30-year-old.

The publication asserted that the Istanbul-based club would even be prepared to offer Tottenham a compensation of €2m (£1.7m) to allow the winger to leave before the end of his contract.

However, Nicola has now revealed on his YouTube channel (as translated by Sport Witness) that Moura’s agent has dismissed the story as a ‘lie’, insisting that there are no negotiations going on between the clubs.

The journalist also added that while the former Paris Saint-Germain star wishes to remain in Europe, he does not intend on moving to Turkey.

Instead, Moura is thought to be attentive to more ‘interesting offers’, with a move to a Premier League club or La Liga club said to be on the cards for the player in the summer.

Turkish outlets often tend to speculate outlandishly based on very little actual information to back up their claims.

It might have simply been the case that Fenerbahce had enquired about Moura’s availability, only for Tottenham to turn their advances.
