Report: Tottenham player’s agents have suggested move to PL club to him

The Chronicle have revealed that Dele Alli’s representatives have pitched Newcastle United as a possible destination to the Tottenham midfielder this month.

Alli was left out of the matchday squad by Antonio Conte for Tottenham’s London derby at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Evening Standard reported on Monday that Spurs are ‘desperate’ to offload the former MK Dons man and are willing to sanction either a loan or a permanent move.

The Chronicle have now revealed that the Tottenham midfielder remains on Newcastle’s list of options in the final week of the transfer window.

It is explained that Dele is represented by the agency Base, who also represent both Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood, who completed moves to St James’ Park this month.

Newcastle’s head of recruitment Steve Nickson is thought to have a good relationship with the agency.

The report adds that a loan move to Newcastle could be in the cards for Alli and suggests the decision on whether to join the Magpies could come down to the 25-year-old himself.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not sure if Dele would want to join Newcastle permanently given the current predicament of Eddie Howe’s side.

If the Magpies do get relegated this season, it could come as a major blow for Dele’s career and he might find it difficult to recover from the setback.

While I can see the 25-year-old favouring a loan move at St James’ Park, I suspect Spurs might prefer to sell him permanently.
