Report: Tottenham player’s EU passport makes him particularly attractive to buyers

Calciomercato have reported that Emerson Royal is a particularly attractive target for AC Milan since the Tottenham star holds an EU passport.

Over the last week, plenty of outlets have talked up Milan’s interest in securing Emerson from Tottenham this summer.

The latest such update came on Wednesday from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) who claimed that the Serie A side are now ready to push ahead with a move for the Spurs star.

However, the report explained that the North London club had no intention of letting the 25-year-old leave on the cheap and are demanding €30m (£25.7m) for his services.

AC Milan remain keen on Emerson Royal

CalcioMercato have now also reported on the Rossoneri’s interest in Emerson and they point out that it is not new.

In fact, Milan allegedly explored moves for the Brazilian back in the summer of 2020 and 2021 but the negotiations fell through both times, with Tottenham eventually beating them to the player.

Now that the right-back has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs, the Italian side are thought to be sensing another opportunity to take the defender to the San Siro.

It is pointed out that one of the key reasons behind Milan’s interest is the fact that Emerson has a Spanish passport after coming through at Barcelona, which means he would not take up a non-EU citizen spot in the squad.

Milan appear to be frontrunners for Emerson at the moment but there is no doubt that a few more clubs from Italy and Spain will enter the race over the next few weeks.
