Report: Tottenham player’s injury may be holding up a transfer away

The Daily Mail report that Sergio Reguilon has picked up an injury, which is holding up the left-back’s move away from Tottenham.

Spurs are thought to be prioritising offloading Reguilon and Harry Winks before the transfer window shuts (Football.London), with the Spaniard, in particular, seeming to generate plenty of interest.

Over recent days, it has emerged that the 25-year-old is on the radars of Serie A duo Atalanta (Bergamo Corriere) and Lazio (CalcioMercato).

Meanwhile, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported on Monday that Nottingham Forest have entered into talks with Spurs over signing Reguilon on loan and The Mirror (21/08, p68) report that Nice have also expressed an interest in the Spaniard.

It remains to be seen where the former Real Madrid man will end up this summer but if the Mail’s recent update is to be believed, the Tottenham player has picked up an injury which is slowing his potential exit.

The report backs up Forest’s interest in signing Reguilon but adds that the newly promoted club’s push to sign the left-back on loan has been held up by his injury.

If it is just a minor injury that will keep him out of action for a few weeks rather than months, that should not affect his transfer. As things stand, it is anybody’s guess where Reguilon will end up but I suspect Spurs will have to settle for a loan rather than a permanent sale.
