Report: Tottenham preparing ‘big security operation’ ahead of this summer

The Sun have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a major security operation for their pre-season trip to South Korea.

Tottenham confirmed last month that the team will travel to South Korea in July to play two exhibition matches as part of the Coupang Play Series, with Football Asian later revealing that the Lilywhites are set to take on K League All-Stars before facing off against Mallorca.

Spurs are also expected to play one pre-season match in Israel after the trip to Asia (The Athletic).

Son Heung-min is expected to be the main attraction for fans during Spurs’ trip to South Korea, with the 29-year-old being one of the biggest celebrities in the country.

The Sun claim that some Tottenham stars have joked to Son that they will discover what it feels like to be a pop star when they make the trip to his country in the summer.

Given how popular Spurs and Son are in South Korea, it is explained that the organisers of the trip are trying to put a major security operation in place.

Spurs Web Opinion

I remember that the scenes in South Korea were quite crazy when Son, Walker, Wimmer and Davies visited the country on a promotional tour at the end of the 2016/17 campaign (Korea Herald).

The fanfare this summer is going to be even crazier, given that Tottenham’s popularity in the country has grown significantly over the past five years.
