Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a potential boost ahead of their weekend fixture against Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The Birmingham Mail have reported that Jack Grealish will now miss the clash at Villa Park on Sunday evening despite trying to stage a late comeback.
Dean Smith told The Athletic earlier this week that Grealish would be assessed ahead of the game against Spurs and the ultimate decision would be up to the England man (The Athletic).
However, if the Birmingham Mail are to be believed, Grealish is not yet ready to come back from the shin injury that has kept him out for around a month.
Smith added that, if Grealish did miss the Spurs match, he could all but guarantee a return against Fulham after the international break. Grealish was not included in Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad.
Aston Villa have struggled without their talismanic midfielder of late, winning just one of their last five Premier League matches. Spurs will hope that these struggles continue.
