Report: Tottenham ‘ramp up bid’ to sign 21-year-old Premier League playmaker

Football Insider have now reported that Tottenham Hotspur are ramping up their bid to sign Norwich City playmaker, Todd Cantwell, this summer.

The 21-year-old attacker caught the eye in his first Premier League season this year as he recorded six goals across 29 games (Wikipedia). This follows on from his breakthrough campaign in the Championship last year when he managed 27 appearances.

TransferMarkt claim that the young Englishman has a current market value of £18m.

However, Football Insider add that reigning European and Premier League champions, Liverpool and Man City, are also interested in signing Cantwell.

Tottenham apparently see Cantwell as an emerging talent who will be capable of playing at both international and Champions League level in the future.

It is said that, although Spurs do not have the spending power of their two Premier League rivals, they could perhaps offer Cantwell more game time.

The youngster’s current contract runs out in 2022 and his future is up in the air with Norwich fighting to avoid relegation.
