Report: Tottenham reach a mutual decision with ‘unhappy’ first-team player

Football Insider have revealed that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is not happy with his current predicament at Tottenham and that both parties are expected to go their separate ways this summer.

Hojbjerg had been a mainstay in Spurs’ starting eleven since his move from Southampton in 2020 but that has changed since Ange Postecoglou arrived through the door last summer.

The Dane has been used as a bit-part player this season and according to Football Insider, the experienced midfielder has not been happy with his role under the Australian.

Tottenham and Hojbjerg set to part ways

The outlet says that the 28-year-old, who will enter the final year of his contract this June, has already decided to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer. The publication adds that Spurs are also happy to let the Denmark international leave and will accept a suitable offer for the player.

Hojbjerg is thought to generating plenty of interest in Italy, with reports over the last few weeks suggesting that the Tottenham man is on the radars of AC Milan (Gazzetta via Sport Witness), Juventus (Tuttosport) and Napoli (Calciomercato).

Spurs Web Opinion

This update will not come as news for Tottenham fans as it is an open secret by now that Hojbjerg will depart this summer, particularly given his contract situation.

The midfielder deserves credit for remaining professional and giving his all when called upon this season, even though he is evidently not happy with the reduced role under Postecoglou.
