Report: Tottenham reach agreement with European club over sale of 23-year-old

Football Insider report that Tottenham have reached an agreement with AEL Limassol for the sale of winger, Anthony Georgiou.

Georgiou joined the Spurs academy in 2013 and came through the ranks to make his senior debut for the club in a Champions League clash in 2017 against APOEL.

However, he has not been able to make much headway since then as that remains the 23-year-old’s only first-team appearance for the North Londoners.

The winger failed to make much of an impact during his loan spells at Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers last season, while he previously had a disappointing spell with Levante.

Reports from earlier this month claimed that Tottenham had given Georgiou permission to speak to Limassol and that the North Londoners were ready to let the winger leave on a cut-price deal.

Football Insider now claim that the two clubs have reached an agreement on Georgiou’s transfer and that the player has agreed on personal terms with the Cypriot club.

It is asserted that the move will be announced by Tottenham within the next few days.

Georgiou never really showed enough potential to be considered a future first-team prospect at Spurs. One can argue that selling him a year or two earlier would have been better for his development. We at Spurs Web would like to wish the youngster the best on his new adventure.
