Report: Tottenham ready to meet club’s asking price for forward

According to Sky Italia, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to meet Stuttgart’s asking price for Nicolas Gonzalez, who is also wanted by Fiorentina.

Gonzalez scored 6 goals and registered 2 assists in an injury-hit season that saw him make just 15 league appearances.

The Argentine was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar during the January transfer window, with The Athletic’s David Ornstein claiming at the time that the Premier League club were in talks with Stuttgart over a deal for the striker.

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed (as relayed by Fabrizio Romano) a few days ago that Tottenham were set to reignite their interest in the 23-year-old this summer, with the club’s new managing director of football, Fabio Paratici reportedly an admirer of the forward.

Sky Italia have now backed up that claim by suggesting that Spurs are ready to meet Stuttgart’s asking price of €25m (£21.5m) upfront with a further €4m (£3.5m) in bonuses for Gonzalez.

The report reveals that Fiorentina have offered €22m (£19m) plus €3m (£2.5m) for the Argentina international, an offer which has been turned down.

It is explained that the Serie A club will need to raise their offer in the coming days if they hope to sign the Stuttgart star.
