Report: Tottenham ready to offer bumper contract to AC Milan star

CalcioStyle have claimed that Tottenham are interested in snapping up AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan and are ready to more than double his current salary.

Lloris’s current contract with Tottenham runs out in the summer of 2024 and reports over recent weeks have indicated that Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici have already held talks over a succession plan for the 35-year-old (Evening Standard).

The likes of Leeds’ Illan Meslier (Athletic’s Phil Hay Show), Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili (Marca) and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak (Fichajes.net) have all been mooted as potential replacements for the Spurs captain.

CalcioStyle have now revealed that Maignan is also another option on the North London club’s radar.

The French international has impressed since making the move from Lille in the summer of 2021, and although the Milan hierarchy are thought to be keen on keeping hold of him, it is said that ‘the sirens from the Premier League are more and more incessant’.

The report states that Maignan is currently earning a salary of €2.8m (£2.4m) per year but Spurs are willing to pay him €6.5m (£5.6m) per year.

CalcioStyle add that Manchester United also have their eye on the 27-year-old, who is said to be ‘attracted’ by the idea of playing in the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is increasingly starting to appear as if this might be Hugo Lloris’ final season at Spurs. However, I would rather see the Frenchman being replaced by someone like Meslier, who is not just proven in the Premier League but also has age on his side, and could thus be our number one for the next decade.
