Report: Tottenham ready to triple managerial target’s salary

According to a report by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are willing to triple Brendan Rodgers’ salary to tempt him to leave Leicester City.

After losing out to Bayern Munich in the race for Julian Nagelsmann and seeing Erik ten Hag pen a contract extension with Ajax, Spurs are now reportedly eyeing a move for Rodgers.

Some sources have suggested that the costs of signing the 48-year-old, including his salary and compensation owed to Leicester, has turned out to be too much for Spurs, with the North London club ready to abandon their pursuit.

However, Football Insider claims that Tottenham are not ready to give up their interest in Rodgers and are ready to ‘offer him the earth’ to bring in to the club.

It is said that Daniel Levy has rated the Northern Irish coach highly for a decade and is prepared to offer him a £15m-a-year salary and pay significant compensation to the Foxes in order to get his man.

The club would likely prefer not to spend too extravagantly on a new manager under the current financial climate. However, Rodgers is clearly the only safe bet among the candidates available as there would be an element of gamble involved with signing the likes of Potter or Parker. So it is understandable if Levy has decided that it would be worthwhile to splash extra to bring the Leicester boss in.
