Report: Tottenham receive boost in pursuit of top target as club decide to sell this summer

According to That’s Football journalist Sam C, Chelsea have decided that Conor Gallagher is one of three players that they will sell this summer as Tottenham continue to show keen interest in the midfielder.

Spurs continue to be named as the frontrunners to land Gallagher this summer, with Football Insider being the latest outlet to suggest this week that the Lilywhites are ‘well placed’ to beat Newcastle to the 24-year-old’s signature.

The report added that the England international is now open to the idea of leaving his boyhood club this summer, with no progress being made in talks over a new deal with Chelsea.

Meanwhile, various publications over the last few months have made it clear that Chelsea would have to cash in on several players this summer to ensure they do not fall foul of FFP.

This includes a recent update by The Times, which explained that the Blues would have to sell Gallagher since the proceeds from his sale would go down pure profits on their accounts.

Chelsea want to sell Conor Gallagher this summer

Sam C has now taken to social media to name Gallagher, Armando Broja, and Trevoh Chalobah as the three players that the West London club will offload to remedy their FFP situation.

He adds that Tottenham have shown ‘serious interest’ in Gallagher and claims that Mauricio Pochettino is not in agreement with the Chelsea board regarding who to sell.

Chelsea cannot afford not to sell Gallgher this summer, given his contract situation and their FFP issue. So it is clear that the midfielder will depart Stamford Bridge and Tottenham will almost certainly test the waters with an offer for the 24-year-old early in the transfer window.
