Report: Tottenham receive loan approach for striker

Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott is wanted by MK Dons on a season-long loan deal, according to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side faced the League One side in a pre-season friendly at Stadium MK yesterday evening, with Spurs running out as comfortable 3-1 winners courtesy of goals from Heung-min Son, Dele Alli and Lucas Moura.

Parrott found himself named among the substitutes for the fixture and saw 17-year-old fellow striker Dane Scarlett given the opportunity to come off the bench in the 77th minute, while Parrott was handed a late cameo five minutes later.

The Republic of Ireland international started last season on loan at Championship outfit Millwall which didn’t go to plan after finding himself in and out of the team, partly due to the ankle injury he sustained in the opening couple of months of the season and failed to complete a full 90 minutes for the Lions (transfermarkt).

A second loan switch happened for the 19-year-old in January when he dropped down a division to link up with Ipswich Town and had more success with the Tractor Boys, having scored two goals in 18 appearances in all competitions.

Parrott’s game time at Tottenham is likely to be limited again this season, especially if Nuno decides that Scarlett is ahead of him in the striker pecking order.

A productive season away from North London, where he can prove he can score 15+ goals in League One would help to build his confidence and give him the regular minutes he needs if he is to fulfil his potential and also retain his place in the Republic of Ireland national team.
