The Athletic have now reported that Christian Eriksen has told Spurs that he wants to leave the club in January, rather than the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Eriksen has just six months left on his contract in North London, with no reports stating that he may sign a new deal.
This means that the Great Dane is currently set to leave on a free transfer in the summer window, unless Tottenham take action in January.
It seems as if the best-case scenario for the Lilywhites now would be to sell the player in the winter window, or use him in a swap deal for another player.
This way Spurs would at least be getting something in return for the loss of one of their best players in North London.
The Athletic add that Inter Milan are one of the clubs in pole position to land the playmaker, although there are also rumours of a swap deal for Gareth Bale (El Desmarque).
