Report: Tottenham refuse to pay more than £50m for this player

Tottenham Hotspur have been chasing Real Betis playmaker, Giovani Lo Celso, for some time now, with the BBC reporting a £53m bid near the start of the transfer window (BBC).

At the time, Real Betis turned the offer down as it was too far away from the player’s £88m buyout clause for their liking, but will they come to regret that decision.

Diario de Sevilla now claim that Spurs are back peddling and will no longer pay anything above €50m for the Argentine playmaker.

The Sun reported earlier this week that Spurs were close to agreeing a deal for the attacking midfielder for just £45m.

ABC reported that Lo Celso recently handed in a transfer request and that Real Betis still wanted €75m for their man.

Whatever the price for the Argentine, it appears that Spurs are simply not willing to overspend for him this summer.

If signed, Lo Celso would join his fellow countrymen Mauricio Pochettino, Juan Foyth, Erik Lamela, and Paulo Gazzaniga in North London.
