Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a host of strikers ahead of the transfer window closing on Friday.

Jose Mourinho recently admitted that he would like to bring in another front man prior to the deadline to help bolster his attacking options and insisted that the club are doing everything possible to make it happen (Sky Sports).

One man who appears not to be on his way to North London is Luka Jovic.  The Daily Mail claim that Real Madrid offered the Serbian striker to Tottenham after has failed to hit the ground running in the Spanish capital following his £54million move from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.

Spurs have also been heavily linked with a move for AC Milan forward Krzystof Piatek, Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani along with Willian Jose of Real Sociedad.

The Champions League finalists do not expect Harry Kane to return to training until April following his operation on the left hamstring tear which he suffered in the New Year’s Day defeat at Southampton.

There is no doubt that Spurs need a target man to come in and help offer Mourinho a more direct style of play.  However, the deadline is fast approaching and they must act fast if they are to bring in a fresh face by Friday.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Jovic could be good, but,I can’t imagine that RM offered Spurs a compelling price for Jovic’s services. After all they paid more than 50M for him to arrive and at this point he has not delivered. Piatek is probably our best choice. Between injuries and pre-occupation with 3 Lions football Kane cannot be relied upon to deliver top quality football week by week. We need someone to be able to fill the gaps where Harry lets down until the next generation (Parrot et al) are ready.
