Report: Tottenham rule out idea of potential swap deal involving striker

Tottenham’s board have ruled out Barcelona’s proposal to include Memphis Depay in a swap deal for Sergio Reguilon, according to AS.

The La Liga side reportedly offered the Netherlands international forward in a package for Reguilon (Fichajes), however, the proposition has been turned down by Spurs.

Reguilon has struggled for consistency for the vast majority of his time in North London since making a move from Real Madrid in 2020.

The 25-year-old made 31 appearances for Spurs last season (Transfermarkt) but found himself in and out of the starting line-up under Antonio Conte.

Reguilon’s place in the side has come under further threat following the arrival of Ivan Perisic, who joins Ryan Sessegnon and Matt Doherty who are all capable of playing at left wing-back.

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems Barcelona do have a solid interest in signing Reguilon but are having some problems trying to put together a deal to acquire him.

The best deal for Spurs would be to fully offload him for around that asking price and they seem pretty intent with not putting together a swap deal, particularly for a player that doesn’t necessarily fit.
