Report: Tottenham said to be possible destination for an ex-player to return

That time of year seems to be rolling around early in the 2019/20 season as the Gareth Bale to Tottenham links are appearing in the press once again.

This comes after the Welshman left Spurs for Real Madrid for a world record fee back in 2013, after making over 200 appearances for the club and scoring 55 goals (Wikipedia).

He has gone on to play 238 games for Los Blancos, scoring 104 goals, and winning four Champions League trophies, among other honours.

However, AS now report that Bale has been left unhappy after Zidane dropped him for the recent Champions League game against Club Brugge.

While Zidane claimed the winger was injured, Bale’s team apparently disagree with this statement, and Gareth may now be looking for a way out of the club.

Tottenham are seen as a possible destination, with AS claiming that Spurs have money to spend now that the stadium is open, however, Levy would want Bale to take a pay cut.

Other destinations mentioned are the MLS, Chinese Super League, and Bayern Munich.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would have loved this a few years ago and would still be excited to see Bale back in a Spurs shirt, however, I just can’t see it happening. If he wanted a return, it would have happened by now. Plus, I don’t think Spurs could afford the transfer fee, let alone his wages.
