Report: Tottenham scout in attendance at top-of-the-table European clash

Tottenham were one of a host of clubs from across Europe to have sent a representative to watch Porto’s Primeira Liga match against Sporting on Friday, according to O Jogo.

The points were shared in an entertaining 2-2 draw between the two title rivals, with the match likely to be remembered for a mass brawl emerging between players and coaches at full-time (Goal).

Referee Joao Pinheiro handed out four red cards after the final whistle, including one to substitute goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin who hadn’t even featured in the encounter.

But despite the pandemonium upon the game’s conclusion, the Portuguese outlet claimed that a Tottenham had a representative in attendance to watch the goings-on at the Estadio Do Dragao.

However, there was no mention of which players Spurs in particular were planning to monitor.

But Spurs weren’t alone in watching proceedings, with officials from a number of other English clubs and the likes of Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund also present.

The list of representatives also featured those from Sevilla, Villarreal, Celta Vigo, Fiorentina, Atalanta, Nice, Monaco, Montpellier and RB Leipzig, who all watched the feisty draw.

Spurs Web Opinion

There was plenty of talent on show for what was an entertaining and fiery affair, which also explains why so many clubs were in attendance for it. Spurs obviously had the whole transfer affair with Luis Diaz towards the end of the January transfer window, but that doesn’t appear to have fazed the club in terms of potential future negotiations.
