Report: Tottenham scouted 24-year-old at Anfield last week

HITC have claimed that Tottenham’s representatives travelled to Anfield last week during Atalanta’s Europa League tie against Liverpool to get a closer look at Ederson.

This is certainly not the first time that Ederson has been mooted as a target for Spurs and HITC have now provided a comprehensive picture of Tottenham’s stance on the midfielder.

It is explained that Ange Postecoglou is prioritising signing an athletic, energetic, central midfield player this summer, with Fenerbahce’s Ismail Yuksek, Feyenoord’s Quinten Timber and Wolves’ Joao Gomes thought to be on the Spurs boss’ wishlist.

However, Ederson is said to be the preferred option, with the Brazilian being viewed as a good fit for Tottenham’s system, having thrived at Atalanta, who play a similar style of football to the Lilywhites.

Tottenham scouted Ederson against Liverpool

It is explained that the North London club’s scouts watched Ederson in action last week as he helped the Serie A side inflict a stunning 3-0 defeat on the Reds in the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinal.

However, it is explained that Spurs are expected to face plenty of competition for the 24-year-old, who is also on the radars of both Man Utd and Newcastle.

It does look like Ederson has been identified as the preferred number-six by Postecoglou. One can certainly see why the Australian wants someone who can compete with Yves Bissouma and keep him on his toes as the Mali international has been quite poor over recent months.
