Report: Tottenham scouts are interested in young ‘new star’ at Brazilian club

GOAL Brazil have reported that Tottenham scouts are interested in Athletico-PR youngster Otavio, with the 15-year-old already standing out in the club’s youth ranks.

Otavio has not yet signed a professional contract with his current club and Spurs are apparently interested in taking him off their hands.

The teenager is said to be catching the eye for his goals in the U15 side, while he also ‘stands’ out for his impressive height for someone so young.

Tottenham have scouted the youngster this season and will be keeping an eye on him as he progresses.

Otavio was one of the top scorers both in the South Brazil tournament and the Brazilian U15 category last season before being moved up to the U17 side this year.

It appears his goalscoring talents have not been impacted by the jump in age group either, and his form ‘draws the attention’ of other clubs, including Spurs.

Otavio turns 16 in April and the report does not mention whether Spurs will make a move for him, as the rules on British clubs signing teenagers from abroad are complicated.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Scooping up teenage players from other leagues is a great way to invest in the academy without having to spend a fortune on transfer fees.

Chelsea have always been great at this and, honestly, Spurs have lagged behind most of the big six sides.
