Report: Tottenham scouts watched 20-year-old in action this week

90 min have revealed that scouts from Tottenham were present at the Estadio de Balaidos to watch Celta Vigo sensation Gabri Veiga in action against Mallorca on Monday.

Veiga has turned a lot of heads with his performances since breaking into Celta’s first-team this season, with the attacking midfielder notching up nine goals and four assists in 27 league appearances so far (Transfermarkt).

Atlantico reported last week that the youngster’s rise had caught Tottenham’s attention, with the North London club alleged to have ‘confirmed’ their interest in the player ahead of the summer transfer window.

90 min have now revealed that representatives from Spurs travelled to Galicia to watch Veiga in Celta’s 1-0 loss at home to Mallorca.

The publication states that scouts from Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Newcastle United were also present at the game while Arsenal, Brentford, Brighton, and Chelsea have all previously watched the midfielder in action this season.

The report adds that Celta will likely demand that Veiga’s release clause of €40m (£35.2m) is met in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems clear that Tottenham are prioritising signing an attacking midfielder this summer, with the club being credited with an interest in the likes of James Maddison, Dani Olmo, Veiga and a couple of other names over recent weeks.

I suspect that the club want several irons in the fire and will wait for the new head coach to make a decision regarding which deal they should advance.
