Report: Tottenham scouts were in attendance at Benfica v Sporting this week

Portuguese publication A Bola (as relayed by Sport Witness) have revealed that scouts from Tottenham were in attendance at the Estadio de Luiz on Friday to watch Benfica host Sporting Lisbon.

The Tottenham scouts would have watched Sporting brush Benfica aside 3-1 on Friday through goals from Paulo Sarabia, Matheus Nunes and Paulinho.

However, the report does not specify which player the scouts from the North London club were running the rule over.

One Sporting star that Spurs have been linked with recently is midfielder Joao Palhinha but he missed the match on Friday due to injury.

Another player Tottenham could have been watching is Benfica striker, Darwin Nunez, who has reportedly been on the Lilywhites’ radar in the past.

The centre-forward has been in fine form this campaign, having scored 11 goals in 17 matches across all competitions.

However, Nunez did not have the best of matches on Friday as he failed to find the back of the net and was replaced by Goncalo Ramos late in the game.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs could have been scouting one of several players on Friday, including players who we have not yet been linked with in the press.

It is normal for Premier League clubs to send scouts to Portugal, particularly when the big sides play each other. So, we should not be reading too much into this information.
