Report: Tottenham scouts were in Portugal this weekend at Porto vs Sporting

The print edition of Record (21/08/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that Tottenham scouts were in attendance at the Estadio do Dragao to watch Porto take on Sporting Lisbon on Saturday.

Tottenham may not yet be done in the transfer window in terms of signings, with Antonio Conte remarking on Saturday the club will sign a replacement if anyone leaves (Football.London).

The Athletic then claimed on Sunday that the North Londoners are expected to sign another attacker to replace Bryan Gil, who will return to Valencia on loan.

It appears that Spurs may have been scouting a player in Portugal over the weekend, with Record stating that scouts from the club were present at Porto’s big clash with Sporting.

The report reveals representatives from Manchester United, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and AS Roma were also present to watch Porto emerge 3-0 winners, courtesy of goals from Evanilson, Mateus Uribe and Galeno.

The print edition of A Bola (21/08/22 via Sport Witness) also confirms the presence of Tottenham scouts at the Estadio do Dragao on Saturday. However, neither publication reveals who Spurs were watching in the clash between two of Portugal’s biggest clubs.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham’s scouting mission to Portugal may have not have had to do with scouting any targets for the current transfer window. We know that Paratici likes to use his scouting network to keep an eye on the best young talent around Europe. He is not shy of taking a punt on up-and-coming talent as we saw with the captures of Gil and Sarr.
