Report: Tottenham see offers for two strikers from same club rejected

If recent reports in Portugal are to be believed, Tottenham Hotspur have seen approaches for Benfica pair, Haris Seferovic and Carlos Vinicius both being turned down by the Portuguese club.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Tottenham’s search for an understudy for Harry Kane and it has now emerged that Jose Mourinho has tried to raid his former club on multiple occasions.

According to Portuguese TV show Mais Transferencias (as relayed by Sport Witness), the Spurs boss was eyeing both Seferovic and Vinicius as potential options for the Lilywhites.

It is claimed that Tottenham saw an offer of €15m for Seferovic turned down in January by Benfica.

The North Londoners reportedly also tried to sign the Swiss international on a loan deal with an option to buy this transfer window but once again saw their offer being turned down.

The report claims that the Lilywhites then turned their attentions to Vinicius, with Daniel Levy reportedly offering €30million for the striker but the Super Eagles demanded double that amount to let him leave.

However, it is suggested that Benfica could have a change of heart regarding the Brazilian since he has now fallen down the pecking order for Jorge Jesus’ side.

Spurs Web Opinion

Some Spurs fans have been left fairly uninspired by some of the strikers we have been linked with. The reaction to the links with the likes of Alexander Sorloth and Troy Deeney has not been positive and one suspects the majority would feel the same about Seferovic or Vinicius.

However, after the outlay, we have made on Bale’s wages and Reguilon’s transfer fee, fans who expect us to make a big-money signing (like Ings or Belotti) will likely be disappointed. I expect us to end up with a functional centre-forward rather than someone who is prolific in front of goal.
