Report: Tottenham send scouts to watch 20-year-old on England U-21 duty

Tottenham Hotspur have sent scouts to watch talented Juventus winger Samuel Iling-Junior on England U-21 duty.

Football Insider revealed last week that the 20-year-old forward had emerged as a top priority for Tottenham in the January transfer window.

The Cobham graduate, who has a contract at Juventus until 2025, wants to leave the Italian giants in search of regular game time (Il Bianconero).

It later emerged that Juventus’ precarious financial situation following their Serie A points deduction means they could be forced to part ways with Samuel Iling-Junior should the right offer arrive (Football Insider).

TEAMtalk however have claimed that the Juventus youngster will not accept a bit-part role in his next club. It is understandable considering he is leaving the Serie A giants for game time.

The young English winger joined Juventus in 2020 from the Chelsea youth setup and has established himself as a fringe player. He has made 22 appearances for the first team so far, scoring one goal and providing three assists in 671 minutes of football (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham seem really keen on Samuel Iling-Junior

Italian outlet Calciomercato have claimed that Spurs sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old in action for England U-21s in their win against Northern Ireland. The report also added that this isn’t the first time Tottenham have sent scouts to watch Iling-Junior.

The report also adds that Juventus are asking for around €20 million for selling the English youngster as they prepare themselves to sacrifice some players.

Spurs Web Opinion

We seem very keen on signing Iling-Junior, as evidenced by our eagerness to send out scouts to watch him in action. The asking fee does not seem too outlandish for a player of his talent either.

However, the 20-year-old, despite wanting to move back to the Premier League, might not want to join us as he is looking for ‘regular game time’.

Considering the competition for places here at Spurs when everyone is fit, Iling-Junior is unlikely to make the move to Tottenham, unless there are playing time guarantees.
