Report: Tottenham set to impose ‘substantial’ penalty to Kane for ‘breach of contract’

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to slap Harry Kane with a substantial fine after he failed to report for his first day of pre-season training.

Kane was expected to arrive at the club’s Hotspur Way training facility before 10:30 yesterday morning following a short holiday but was nowhere to be seen.

The Evening Standard claim that the severity of the fine could depend on how long he decides to continue his leave of absence, which is a breach of contract.

The 28-year-old has been the subject of interest from Manchester City and reportedly expressed his desire to leave the north London club at the end of last season (Sky Sports).

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is said to be determined to keep the England captain at the club, despite his failure to turn up as expected (Daily Mail).

Kane earns £200,000-a-week in North London following the contract he signed in 2018 and still has three years left to run.

A two-week fine is likely to bother Kane too much given the wealth he has already accumulated and the fact that he could easily double his money at Manchester City, it will all depend on how long he stays away for.

Kane gives off the aura of the ultimate professional, however, his representatives have to be accountable for allowing this to happen.

The striker may want silverware, but he has had plenty of opportunities to turn up in finals and prove his worth.
