The Mirror have reported that Tottenham are set to meet with Sporting Lisbon about Pedro Porro this week as they look to bring the right-wing-back into North London.
The 23-year-old himself has already agreed to join Tottenham so personal terms should not be any kind of obstacle for Fabio Paratici and co. However, Sporting are said to want £40m plus performance-related add-ons in order to sell the former Man City man.
Tottenham are still reportedly hesitant to pay such a price for the wing-back, who they came up against twice in the group stages of the Champions League last year. Spurs apparently want to negotiate a ‘much lower’ fee for Porro in January.
In fact, Spurs are said to be considering offering Sporting a player on loan for the second half of the season, plus a cash offer of around £27m to get the deal over the line. However, it remains to be seen whether the Portuguese club will budge on their valuation.
Spurs Web Opinion:
There is no way that Sporting accept that kind of fee. Tottenham may have a chance if they offer £30m, plus a player on loan, and also remove their sell-on clause for Marcus Edwards (Telegraph), but even then Sporting could say no.
