Report: Tottenham set to play upcoming away game in partially empty stadium

Tottenham Hotspur are set to face Marseille in a partially shut stadium when the two sides meet later next month at the Orange Vélodrome.

UEFA have taken action against the French side as a result of recent crowd trouble during the Champions League fixture during their 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt on 13 September, according to the BBC.

As a result of the crowd disturbance which UEFA handed down for “lighting of fireworks, throwing of objects, use of laser pointers, crowd disturbances and blocking of public passageways”, Marseille will play their next home match against Portuguese outfit Sporting behind closed doors.

Tottenham make the trip to the south of France on match day six on November 1st, which will see some sections of the stadium unoccupied.

It was clear to see during the match between the two sides in north London earlier this month that the French supporters were capable of causing trouble.

Hopefully, the partial closure will have no impact on Tottenham’s allocation and if anything, UEFA should increase the opportunity for the Premier League side to bring even more fans to the match should there be demand.
